Growth Group Study Guide
Stay On The Path - The Danger Of Dilution
POINT 1: Commit to a life of spiritual maturity
POINT 2: Recognize the difference between philisophy and truth
POINT 3: Ensure that theology informs your traditions
Choose questions to get your group thinking and create openness:
Begin your discussion with highlights from this Sunday’s sermon? What something that stood out to you? Share what you learned and how will it impact your life?
What questions did this Sunday’s message raise? Share them in the group and offer your answers to each other’s questions.
Read Colossians 2:6-23. What does “living in Christ” involve? What does the phrase “rooted and built up” imply to you?
What are “the basic principles of this world” (vv: 8,20) and the “powers and authorities” (vv:10,15)? How did Christ give the Colossians victory over these?
When have you felt as if the “roots” of your faith in Christ were barely below the surface? What helps you to sink those roots deeper?
What additions to the faith have you encountered from people who try to encourage you to be “more spiritual”?
Read Acts 17:2-4; 11-12. Compared with the Thessalonians, how do the Bereans receive the Gospel? In terms of time, consistency and intensity, how would you rate your Bible study/reading? Is it all like the Bereans?
Thank God for His Word, which is living and active (Hebrews 4:12). Commit to develop a greater discipline of reading, studying, and obeying God’s Word.
Pray that you would be like the tree in Psalm 1—and as you delight in God’s Word, you will be well-nourished, fruitful, and prosperous.
Pray that you would boldly and confidently declare God’s Word over your life, family, and circumstances. Ask God to use you to tell others about Him every day.
Take 10-15 minutes
