Acts 23:23 Paul was to witness in Rome as per God’s revelation to Paul. Acts 23-35 is the account of how God orchestrated Paul’s safe escape and arrival into Caesarea. The Jews were plotting to kill Paul but God arranged for him to be escorted by a detachment of 200 soldiers, seventy horsemen and 200 spearmen. God’s plans always succeed no matter the visible circumstances.

Acts 23:1 How do we fulfil our duty to God in good conscience? It may mean that contrary to popular belief we uphold and adhere to certain moral standards in obedience to God. We may have to sacrifice instant gratification in pursuit of an eternal, heavenly reward. The path is narrow, less travelled and not for the faint of heart. We witness the consequences of Paul’s boldness right away when he is stuck on the mouth. But for the believer resting in the solid assurance that our Lord and Saviour will never leave us or forsake us is enough to make us fearless.
