Why Should We Tithe?

This tithe. Let's unpack this for a minute. What do we see? It's not directed giving something that we can control, that we have power over. It's given to God. It's given to the priest. It's given to the king. John says it's to care for those who are teaching the church. And it's not our call to say whether it's deserved or not or whether it is stewarded well. We don't see that anywhere in Scripture that says you should tithe and you should give as long as the people that are receiving it are stewarding it well. Where do you think that thought comes from? Well, that's our thought. And we go, Well, I would like to give to somewhere where it's stewarded well. So would I. But you know what? I don't see that in Scripture, to be honest. I see that I give to what belongs to the Lord because it's his. Because he is my priest and king. And it's a principle of our worship.
