Following Jesus For Personal Gain

Alright, if you're trying to follow Jesus, I want you to do a quick heart check. Most of us who are trying to live this life, if we're to be honest with ourselves, there's pieces of our hearts that are divided. And it's not because we're bad people. It's just because we're people. Some of us may be following Jesus because deep down, we think that if we do all the right things, our lives will get easier or better. Or maybe our passion to follow Jesus really depends on if we've gone to the right church, to the right worship experience, or maybe we're following Jesus because we think if all of us align, then we can change the politics in this world and defeat injustice. It's not that any of these things are bad in and of themselves, but they can definitely get in our way of following Jesus as his true disciple, as he called us to be without personal gain in good and difficult seasons to fight for his kingdom, which is not the kingdom of this Earth.
