HOW TO DEAL WITH OPPOSITION AS CHRISTIANS

When someone challenges your point of view, what's your first response? It's a natural reaction to get angry, feel the need to fight back and defend ourselves when we’re opposed. The internet is full of people ready to prove a point and engage in a fight. Who's right, who's wrong, but reflection for you: Is it the character of Jesus to defend himself? Or did he allow people to disagree with him, tell lies about him, maybe even physically abuse him? It seems crazy in our modern world not to want to defend ourselves against lies and attacks, that’s because all too often we let culture take the place of Biblical instruction. Jesus literally taught that if we were attacked on one side, we could expose ourselves to another attack on the other side. And when he was accused of being a friend of liars and cheats or even inciting revolt, he simply asked people to judge for themselves as to his character. If we could learn to have that kind of confidence in our own character, then we would truly be following in his footsteps.
